February 21, 2014
The Homelessness Radio Marathon is an annual radio event which broadcasts nationally live from the streets all night, coast to coast to coast, to raise awareness of homelessness in Canadian communities. Now in its 12th year, this marks the first time the Marathon moves from its original host, CKUT 90.3 FM Montreal.
Starting at 6pm on February 26th, 2014, University of Alberta station CJSR will join forces with many other campus and community radio stations from across Canada to broadcast for 14 hours to spotlight the crisis of homelessness across the country. CFCR is eager to work in solidarity with stations across the country to find solutions to this national problem.
CFCR is proud to contribute to this year's marathon with an interview conducted by Making The Links (Wednesdays at 6pm) host Don Kossick, who sat down with community outreach worker Jacqui Barclay to talk about issues surrounding homelessness in Saskatoon. The interview can be heard between 6:30 and 7am local Saskatoon time on Thursday, Februrary 27th.
You can tune in to CFCR to hear a portion of the Marathon from 1-6am on Thursday the 27th. To hear the broadcast in its entirety, and for more information, visit CJSR's website.
